« Voici une dizaine d’années que j’ai entrepris un travail, principalement de peinture, qui s’attache
à démontrer qu’il demeure un usage contemporain possible et valide des formes issues du modernisme historique. Au moyen de figures simples, de procédés élémentaires empruntés tant au vocabulaire abstrait qu’à une réflexion sur le langage héritée de l‘art conceptuel, je m’intéresse à montrer ce qui subsiste au-delà de l’image, ou malgré elle : la pratique et l’énonciation. Durant la WIELS Art Book Fair 2015, les Éditions Enigmatiques en association avec ARP2 Editions, présenteront leurs récentes publications avec un focus sur les livres de Michel Mazzoni.
Sous forme d’assemblage d’images d’archives et de créations nouvelles, le photographe réalise avec son dernier livre, Gravity, un poème photographique en hommage aux premières missions spatiales, une fiction narrative inspirée de faits réels (édition limitée accompagnée d’un tirage original signé).

Between the Flashes of the Lighthouse is an extension of the series Nine Nameless Mountains, realized by Maanantai Collective in August 2014, 2 years later the first trip to Lofoten. In reference to the exhibition title, the dark moments between the flashes were indeed a sign of the possibility to step into the unknown, the unexpected and the prolific part of the creative process. The new works of Maanantai are playing with subtlety and drive with the direct experimentation of visual perception.
