ALBARELLI FOR ALL SORES

Filed under: Art contemporain, Design | Tags: , |

altblog – Johan TahonIn his early twenties Johan Tahon dug up in the center of Ghent a majolica milk jug. It proved to be an important discovery: it was made by the Antwerp ceramist of Italian descent Guido Andries. Andries introduced majolica in the Netherlands and in 1520 put up a kiln in the Kammenstraat, not far from where gallery Valerie Traan is now located. Johan Tahon shows for the first time his versions of the albarello, or pharmacist’s pot, capriciously covered with white enamel.

Sélections de sites Internet: Alexandra Bachzetsis, Olaf Breuning, Christoph Büchel, Claudia Comte, Urs Fischer, Gianni Jetzer, Mia Marfurt, Pipilotti RistKilian RüthemannOlympia Scarry, Roman Signer, Tobias Spichtig and Not Vital.

Elevation 1049, Gstaad. 27.01.2014 > 08.03.2014. L’exposition est gratuite.

SUPERFICIAL HYGIENE

Filed under: Art contemporain, Peinture - Illustration, Photographie | Tags: , |

altblog – Magali ReusSuperficial Hygiene aims to introduce to the Netherlands a set of practices of a younger generation of artists who employ, adapt, and corrupt the grammar of our accelerated environment to propose a new understanding of the relation between the mediated image and text, and objects and the physical body. The most recent developments in image production allow for a new kind of realism, one, which has caused a further rift between objects and their representation. As a result, our physical relationship with images and things in our daily environment is changing.
