The photographs used in the Based in Berlin exhibition’s graphic design are double exposures by photographer Heji Shin. Studio shots from the Thomas Demand studio were superimposed with pictures of its garden to create an image of the simultaneity between the production of art, the art exhibition and the exhibition space in Monbijoupark.

Essi Kausalainen explores the human body/being in relation to the space that surrounds it. She’s interested in the physical experience of being (body as a space, body as an action, body as an identity). Extension is a Performance Art plattform in Berlin presenting international emerging artists. It offers space, infrastructure and time for invited artists to develop new works, discuss their positions with the audience and research new methodologies in the documentation of performances.
