The idea of the exhibition Paradise Lost Paradise originated from the commemoration of the 17th century painter Roelandt Savery which took place this year in the city of Kortrijk. As it happens, the theme of Paradise is very present in Savery’s work. The photographs used in the Based in Berlin exhibition’s graphic design are double exposures by photographer Heji Shin. Studio shots from the Thomas Demand studio were superimposed with pictures of its garden to create an image of the simultaneity between the production of art, the art exhibition and the exhibition space in Monbijoupark.
