Dans le cadre du projet «Nouvelles Vagues», une trentaine de lieux dans la capitale s’associent au Palais de Tokyo et invitent chacun dans leurs espaces un jeune curateur à concevoir une exposition. La galerie Jeanroch Dard accueille Rod Barton et les artistes Gabriele Beveridge, James Clarkson, Oliver Osborne, David Ostrowski, Max Ruf et Chris Succo.

Grande plage s’inscrit dans la recherche que mène Jagna Ciuchta autour des formes générées par l’exposition Alina Szapocznikow : Sculpture Undone 1955-1972. Une recherche qui a débuté à Bruxelles avec une série de prises de vue au Wiels, de la scénographie vide de l’exposition, pendant son démontage et après la disparition des œuvres d’Alina Szapocznikow. Une première exposition au Treize à Paris La simulation a fait suite à cette première étape; Grande Plage est issue d’une seconde série de prises de vues réalisées au MOMA de New York.
